Verify a download

Compare the SHA-256 checksum of the file with the value published in the release. If they differ, do not run the file.

On macOS, use shasum -a 256 with the file name.

Before you run

  • Running the binary starts a node. There is no separate version or dry-run mode.
  • Keep RPC private. The node HTTP interface binds to 127.0.0.1:48101 by default. Never expose it directly to the internet.
  • Peer sync uses port 48100. Open it only on networks where you intend to run a peer.
  • Use the matching network. Run only the code and policy that belong to the network you intend to join.
  • Browser mining is not available in V23. See miner compatibility.
